About Our Founder
Eye Shield Technology was founded by Joel H. Goffman MD, an ophthalmologist, inventor, and patent holder whose career has been dedicated to ophthalmic care and the development of practical solutions for eye care professionals and their patients.
After graduating first in his class from the University of Maryland, Joel H. Goffman MD served in Vietnam before completing his ophthalmology residency at Baylor in Houston. He went on to establish his medical practice in Houston, where his firsthand experience treating patients and performing ophthalmic procedures inspired his interest in developing products that addressed the practical needs he encountered in clinical care.
In 1974, he founded Eye Shield Technology. Throughout his career, Joel H. Goffman MD has been awarded two patents and has invented several devices used in cataract surgery. His combination of clinical experience and product innovation has helped shape the company’s approach to developing dependable ophthalmic products for surgeons, healthcare facilities, and patients.
